Go Daddy, a well recognised firm in hosting and domain registrar has lost approximately 37000 domains in the last two days due to the firm’s indecisive stance on the Stop Online Piracy Act. It was a resulted from an intense adverse reaction from its customers and internet critics after Go Daddy was on of the firm that supported the Act in the official list of companies that was supporting SOPA. The internet had retaliated by putting together a extensive boycott where customers would change their domain to rival competitors,which Go Daddy had dismissed stating that there wouldn’t be any impact on their sales. Now it seems that their evaluation wasn’t accurate.
Go Daddy later reversed their decision on SOPA damage had already been made as its customers had already switched its service to other domain companies according to the data reported by The Domains.The report indicates that over 15,000 domains were transferred off Thursday and another 21,054 domains on Friday which is a significant amount of loss for Go Daddy.
