Microsoft did announce the launch of their Windows Phone platform in China, and the firm also revealed some interesting stats about Windows Phone Marketplace. Reports from Microsoft claims that the Windows Phone Marketplace now has more than 70,000 Apps with more than 300 Apps being added every day. Moreover Microsoft said hat there are now more than 100,000 registered developers for the Windows Phone marketplace, and the of the 70,000 applications there are now 2,500 Chinese apps.
This figure is up from 50,000 in December and 60,000 in January 2012. Windows Phone platform is often criticised because of the lack of apps and reaching this milestone would certainly make Microsoft happy. Among its competitors, both Android and iOS have over half a million apps each. With over 400,000 Android applications or over half a million iOS apps offered by Apple for its iPhone, iPod and iPad devices. Microsoft’s Windows Phone in China, which is set to become the world’s biggest smartphone market in terms of shipments, and this launch would certainly help the company in wooing developers to its platform.
