Filesharing website Megaupload’s Founder Kim Dotcom has been released on bail In New Zealand according to reuters. After Kim Dotcom was arrested last month on several charges for criminal copyright violations and racketeering. Since two federal Judges in New Zealand rejected his previous requests for bail. The Judge today has granted bail for Dotcom. Judge has decided that it was “very unlikely” that Dotcom had sufficient funds to flee.
Moreover the Judge revealed police had not proven that the 38-year-old had enough assets remaining to help him flee the country. United States is seeking to bring Kim Dotcom and six others related with MegaUpload to the country to stand trial. “The disposition that he is wealthy and must have more assets is not evidence,” Judge Dawson said. “It would seem that he has every reason to stay (in New Zealand) to be with his family and to fight to keep his significant assets.”
