Samsung To Outsell Nokia In 2012

Last year Samsung has overtaken Nokia by revenue, Its now said that Samsung believes it will overtake Finland based Nokia in total shipments of smartphones as well. During CES 2012 Samsung Chief Executive said  Samsung has overtaken Nokia in revenue in the latest reported quarter and is confident it will be able to top Nokia in shipments, becoming the world’s largest mobile phone manufacturer in 2012 ”With the current sales growth rate, we are likely to… achieve the 2015 sales target of $200 billion earlier,” Samsung Chief Executive Choi told reporters.

 Over the decade Nokia has been the dominant force in the phone market, But Nokia is struggling lately when it comes to smartphones with emergence of Android and iOS. Apple overtook Nokia during Q2 of 2011 and now the company’s partnered with Microsoft to launch new Windows Phone devices. Reuters reported that Nokia expected to sell  418 million mobile phones in 2011 while Samsung expected 320 million. At last Nokia sold 388 million smartphone with Samsung sold  359 million.
