Google Removes Gmail App For Blackberry

Gmail has officially revealed that it will remove its official Gmail App for Blackberry, in favour for a web-based alternative. In an official post  Google said its reasoning behind the removal of the App which will see downloads and support for the email platform ceasing on 22 November. “Over this past year, we’ve focused efforts on building a great Gmail experience in the mobile browser and will continue investing in this area,” the post reads. Google has also said that those who have already installed the app will be able to continue using it, although it won’t be available to download from November 22. Google has confirmed that it won’t be yanking its other BlackBerry apps, so Calendar, Maps and Voice will still be available. Blackberry users will be available to use Gmail through their device’s native email client and browser.
