Apple has released on Friday iOS 5.0.1 beta 2 to developers,The iOS 5.0.1 beta addressed battery life issues, patched the Smart Cover security flaw, and added enhanced multitasking gestures to the original iPad. iOS 5.0.1 beta 2 seems to be a minor update. Developers can check for 5.0.1 beta 2 in the iOS Dev Center and also check for an over-the-air update on devices running iOS 5.0.1 beta 1. The iOS 5.0.1 beta 2 update just hit Apple’s developer site and some users are reporting difficulties while trying to downloading the update. Developers should be able to download a standalone iOS 5.0.1. Beta 2 build through the iOS Dev Center, but we were having issues downloading the files at post time. Alternatively, registered developers can apply an over-the-air update directly on devices running iOS 5.0.1 Beta 1 by opening the Settings app, tapping General and then Software Update.
The first beta of iOS 5.0.1 was labeled build “9A402.”:
