Google’s Android has been the dominant OS in U.S. smartphone market, which occupied nearly half of the mobile OS market share in the last quarter. According ComScore over 97 million users in the U.S. owned smartphones during the three months ended in December, stands for 40 % of all mobile subscribers.
In Second place Cupertino based Apple Inc which had a growth of 2.2% points to 29.6 per cent of the smartphone market. RIM was at third with a 16 per cent share, followed by Microsoft with 4.7 per cent and Symbian with 1.4 per cent.The study surveyed more than 30,000 U.S. mobile subscribers and found Samsung to be the top handset manufacturer overall with a 25.3 percent market share. Google Android strengthened its lead in the smartphone market to reach 47.3 percent market share.
