Facebook’s recent acquisition of the most popular photo-sharing application Instagram has 50 million users and adding up 5 million new users every week according to API. At the beginning of April Instagram had 30 million users however on April 13 it went up to 40 million users. It’s been an amazing achievement for an app that started with just 15 million users. It was an exclusive iOS application before this application released for Android devices. The recent release of this app for Android devices a lot of sign-ups on both platforms followed by an increase to 40 million after 10 days on April 13.
However Instagram topped number one in the iOS App store for the first time in the wake of the Facebook acquisition. Google doesn’t reveal how many downloads are on Google Play page however two days ago Instagram passed the target by 10 million downloads. Therefore approximately 40 million users are on the iPhone. In other words, ever since Instagram became most popular for platforms, iPhone and Android have equally shared and divided the sign ups.
